Lipid stability of egg and laying performance of Japanese quail feed with extract of guava (Psidium guajava L.)

Abstract Two experiments were conducted in order to evaluate the effect of dietary inclusion guava extract on laying performance and lipid stability egg Japanese quails. For first experiment, 384 quails with 42 days old distributed a completely randomized design four treatments (0.0; 3.0; 6.0; 9.0 g.kg-1 extract), 6 replicates, 16 birds/replicate. The experimental period lasted 84 days, divided into 4 cycles 21 days. parameters evaluated were: feed consumption, production, mass, conversion ratio, weight, internal external qualities. On second 400 eggs from fed diets containing levels 4x4 factorial arrangement (guava storage time: 0, 9, 18, 27 days) 5 replicates. Analysis thiobarbituric acid reactive substances was performed yolks. Data submitted regression analysis, using α=0.05. not influenced by feed, eggshell thickness decreased linearly. experiment an interaction observed between studied factors, affecting oxidation At nine storage, there quadratic yolk, being that 4.8 results less oxidation.
